About six months ago, I was contacted by Jeff Wingert. He is the Senior Property Manager for a building in Downers Grove. It was an inquiry regarding buidling photography for a contest he and his team were planning to enter, called the TOBY Awards. That stands for The Outstanding Building of the Year. This award is, "the most prestigious recognition that building owners and managers can achieve in commercial real estate. This awards program recognizes quality in commercial buildings and rewards excellence in building management. During the competition, all facets of a building's operations are thoroughly evaluated. Buildings are judged on everything from community involvement, tenant relations, environmental and green policies and much more." More information can be found HERE.
First, they compete locally. If they win, the next step is a Regional competition. Finally, there is an International Competition and winners are announced at the Building Owners and Managers Association Conference in the summer.
Following the guidlines for submission, we took care of the photographic portion in summer. Separately, they took care of the bulk of the submission which was in the form of detailed written answers. Then it was time to wait. Jeff did not tell the ownership about applying, as he was hoping to surprise them with a win.
As it turns out, they took FIRST PLACE!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Wishing them all the success as they move on to Regionals!
