Anyone who knows me, knows my happy place is an independent coffee shop! I'm always so excited to find a new one to check out. Lucky for me, there are 3 right in the downtown of my home town, Aurora, IL. I have spent many hours at Society 57 since it's opening. In fact, I was even at the grand opening ribbon cutting, I was so excited!
Given how much I love indy coffee shops I thought I'd start a blog series about the local places I frequent. Maybe you'll find a new place you love too!
Why do I love coffee shops? It's funny because I don't REALLY consider myself a coffee drinker. I guess, at this point, I am. But I only drink "foofy" coffee drinks that most definitely don't really taste like coffee. I like lattes most of all. Always hot, even in the dead of summer. So it's really about the atmosphere. It's about the energy and vibe of a coffee shop and the people I see there and the team that runs the shop. Society 57 almost always has friends of mine there when I arrive and the team that takes care of all of us is the best! During these times of Covid, I won't go anywhere that isn't taking all the right precautions. S57 has it all covered!
There's always something special about walking into a store and having the people behind the counter know your name! (Hello, Cheers!) Belle, is the sweetest! She even told me she had me in mind as she created a new Maple Sage Latte!
One of the things I love so much about Society 57 is the light! The photographer in me can't get enough of it. I've also been lucky enough to use this space to photograph a handful of clients.
The pastries are locally made by an incredible baker and the coffee is locally sourced! And honest to goodness, they have the best English muffins I've ever had!
That new seasonal Pumpkin Spiced Chaider - so yummy!
I love the simplicity of the interior design and the difference in the various spaces where I can park myself and just chill.
I'm so thankful for these creative spaces where I can meet friends and clients or just hang out and work!
Go check out Society 57 in downtown Aurora @ 100 S. River Street. You'll be happy you did!
Tell them Bari sent you.

Mary Lynne Shafer - Love this Bari! As a dedicated coffee fan when I travel the first thing I look for is the local coffee shop. Society 57 is one I would describe as truly cozy and comfortable. Great place for photo ops too!!
