It's been a loooooong year. We are almost at the one year anniversary mark of everything shutting down. From what I read, we are in the home stretch and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. For the arts, auditions are happening again, self tapes are all the rage and booking of jobs is underway. Headshots need to be submitted!
- The most commonly asked question I get for a new headshot session is, "What should I wear?" So, I thought I'd shed some light on that here today!
- Headshots are all about your eyes! That's where you want people to look first. And you don't want anything to distract from your eyes and your face. So the first thing I tell my clients is that you want to choose colors that really bring out your eyes and make them pop. If you have a shirt that, whenever you put it on, people always comment about how good it looks on you and how it really makes your eyes stand out, bring THAT one. No question.
- Additionally, you don't want any colors that wash you out and make you look pale. You want colors that warm up your skin. If you don't already have a sense of that for yourself, get the opinions of your closest friends and family.
- As I said earlier, you don't want anything to distract from your face. So, I generally advise against any patters and suggest you stick with solid colors. Small patterns can often work but nothing overly busy or loud.
- Finally, choose clothes that you love, that you feel and look good in, that give you confidence. You don't want anything that you constantly have to adjust or that you feel doesn't really reflect who you are. When you are relaxed and feel good, that's when you'll get the best captures of you and your personality.
When was the last time you had a new headshot taken? Does it still look like you? Does it REALLY look like you? Does it convey the message and personality you want?
Let's work together! I PROMISE we'll have fun.
